Miami Art Week need not be organized entirely around fair tents. At The Bass, Yuko Mohri’s Unviolated Imperfection offers a sustained encounter with sound and material change, on view September 17, 2026–May 30, 2027.

The multi-gallery installation uses familiar and organic objects to explore sound as sculpture and decay as a source of new activity. Improvisation and inefficiency are part of Mohri’s approach. The exhibition is organized by Jasa McKenzie, the museum’s associate curator.

Leave room to listen

Sound-based work asks for a different pace from the quick survey of a busy fair aisle. Give the installation time and notice how your attention changes as you move through the space. For an Art Week itinerary, that makes a museum visit a useful counterpoint to a day built around booths and appointments.

The exhibition is supported by the Knight Foundation’s New Media Initiative, Sarah Arison and Funding Arts Network. The official promotional photograph shows Mohri’s Decomposition from 2024; it is identified as that work, rather than presented as a photograph of the 2026 installation.

Plan a Miami Beach visit

The Bass is at 2100 Collins Avenue, beside Collins Park. Use the museum’s official season announcement and ticket route for visitor arrangements. Our exhibition guide keeps the dates together, and the Miami Art Week guide helps place the museum alongside the fairs. The run continues well beyond December, offering another reason to visit during the winter season.
