Halloween at the Whitney: Free Friday Nights, Galleries and Two DJ Sets
October 30 brings free museum admission from 5–10 p.m., Halloween DJs from 6–10 p.m. and a separate Teen Night. Reserve the required free tickets ahead.

Friday at the Whitney can move between a gallery visit and a night out. On October 30, the museum adds a Halloween soundtrack to Free Friday Nights, with Lord Fascinator and TYLERFROMWHERE playing in the first-floor lobby. Upstairs, American art gives the evening a second rhythm: time with the work, then a return to the music.
The practical invitation is straightforward: museum admission is free from 5–10 p.m., and the DJ program runs from 6–10 p.m. Tickets are still required. Reserve ahead through the museum rather than treating free admission as an unrestricted walk-in.
Two DJs, one Halloween evening
The official DJ program begins at 6 p.m. with Lord Fascinator, the Australian-born, New York-based DJ, composer and recording artist. At 8 p.m., TYLERFROMWHERE takes over, bringing a Brooklyn-based practice that draws on house, disco and R&B. Both sets take place in the Floor 1 lobby.
That setting makes the music part of a museum evening. Visitors can build their own pace around the galleries and the lobby program, with the final admission and capacity arrangements handled by the Whitney.
Leave time for the galleries
The exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: Like New is on view on Floor 5, running October 11, 2026–May 10, 2027. The Whitney’s exhibition page introduces a survey that brings familiar works into conversation with less widely seen parts of the artist’s practice.
For a Friday visit, the appeal is the combination: an exhibition with enough to reward a deliberate look, followed by music downstairs. Drinks and snacks from Frenchette Bakery are available during Free Friday Nights; they are separate purchases, not part of the free admission offer.
Tickets, address and costumes
The Whitney is at 99 Gansevoort Street, between Washington and West Streets, in the Meatpacking District. Book the October 30 date through the official admission page. The museum strongly recommends advance booking because capacity is limited.
Costumes suit the occasion, but the museum’s Halloween guidance asks visitors to avoid cultural appropriation, discriminatory or violent imagery, and fake weapons. Choose something that works for moving comfortably through a museum as well as an evening with music.
Teen Night has its own registration
Earlier that afternoon, Teen Night runs from 4–7 p.m. It is a separate free program for teens, with music and art-making planned by the Whitney’s Youth Insights Leaders, including printmaking with the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. Advance registration is required; follow the Teen Night listing from the museum’s Halloween page for its registration details.
Do not use a general Free Friday Nights reservation as a substitute for the teen program’s requirements. The two programs overlap in time, but their admission routes are distinct.
