Where to spend New Year’s 2027: Aspen, New York, Miami, St. Barts or St. Martin?
Five different New Year’s trips for December 31, 2026: choose between mountain days, city culture, beach concerts and Caribbean nights.

The right New Year’s destination is the place where you want to spend the days on either side of midnight. One party cannot rescue a trip whose flights, hotel or pace do not suit you. For the holiday welcoming 2027, our five-destination short list covers skiing, city culture, beach concerts and two different Caribbean propositions.
This guide concerns December 31, 2026 into January 1, 2027. Event names alone can be misleading: an old page called “NYE 2026” may describe last December’s countdown. Follow the actual date on the organizer’s offer.
Choose the trip before the party
| Destination | Our reason to choose it | The decision that matters most |
|---|---|---|
| Aspen | Mountain days followed by dinner in town | Downtown Aspen versus a Snowmass base |
| New York | Culture, restaurants and a city celebration | A seated evening versus an outdoor countdown |
| Miami | Warm-weather days and several kinds of night out | Miami Beach versus a mainland itinerary |
| St. Barts | A trip built around specific beach-club programs | Confirmed event access and onward transfers |
| St. Martin / Sint Maarten | Dining and beach days with more ways to assemble the trip | Which side and neighborhood fit your evenings |
Aspen: choose it for the whole mountain holiday
Aspen is our choice when skiing is a substantial part of the holiday rather than background scenery. A downtown base works for dinners and evenings in town; Snowmass is a different lodging decision. Map the actual mountain and evening venues before comparing hotels by price alone. Our Aspen stay guide explains the downtown options.
There is also a new opening to watch: the Aspen Chamber’s winter 2026–27 announcement says Guest House Aspen will open December 31 at 415 East Hyman Avenue, pairing a dining room with a lounge. That is an announced opening, not an assessment of a restaurant we have visited or a confirmed reservation package.
Aspen’s annual events information describes a New Year’s tradition of family activities and evening fireworks. We would wait for the date-specific 2026 program before making a particular fireworks time the centerpiece of a booking. Book the mountain holiday first, then choose a confirmed dinner or performance that fits it.

New York: make the evening specific
New York is strongest when the celebration grows out of the city you already enjoy: a performance, a proper dinner or a gathering with friends. Our Metropolitan Opera New Year’s Eve Gala report offers one cultural route. Read the actual ticket offer to distinguish the performance from any additional gala package.
The Times Square Alliance FAQ describes the public outdoor celebration as free and first come, first served. Its accessible page still contains the previous countdown’s program. Use that distinction when planning: the general public-access model is useful background, while 2026 performers, entry points and operational timings need the new announcement. A restaurant near Times Square does not automatically provide a view of the ball.
For a warm base and a live-ball view, our Times Square viewing-party feature compares inside-view tickets, restaurants, hotel rooms and terraces. It distinguishes a view from your table from standing access and a televised countdown.
For a dinner-led evening, our restaurant desk is a starting point for the food. Ask separately about December 31 menus, minimums and sitting times. A regular menu review does not establish a New Year’s package.
Miami: the beach concert is a real alternative
Miami does not require a nightclub package to make New Year’s feel like an occasion. Orchestra Miami has announced a free December 31 beachfront concert on the sand between 21st and 22nd Streets. The pre-show starts at 8 p.m.; the orchestra and AfroBeta perform at 10 p.m., followed by midnight fireworks. General attendance is separate from paid reserved seating and VIP offers.
That makes Miami Beach a compelling base for a concert-centered holiday. A mainland party creates a different itinerary. Choose one area for the main evening rather than assuming a dinner, hotel and countdown on opposite sides of the bay will fit comfortably together. Our Miami and St. Barts event guide links individual announced editions, including the Great Gatsby Party and the beach concert.

St. Barts: make the confirmed program worth the journey
Gyp Sea has announced Peggy Gou for December 31, 2026, within its Super Island holiday program. For readers who want that particular music-led week, the announcement provides a specific reason to choose St. Barts.
Decide what admission you actually need before committing to accommodation. A beach lunch, a restaurant reservation and a night-party table can carry different conditions. Check the complete amount, inclusions, party size, cancellation terms and transport home. Our St. Barts desk keeps the island’s coverage together; the Peggy Gou edition guide preserves the event identity.
St. Martin: the sleeper pick deserves a proper comparison
St. Martin / Sint Maarten is our alternative for travelers who want beach days, good dinners and a celebration without making a particular St. Barts venue the purpose of the trip. French-side Grand Case and Orient Village, and Dutch-side Simpson Bay and Maho, offer different bases. Pick the neighborhood around the evenings you want.
There is already a dated option: Babacool in Simpson Bay advertises December 31, 2026, with a six-course menu, welcome Champagne, DJ and countdown at $175 per person, with a $50 deposit. Check tax, service, cancellation and the final inclusions directly. This is an advertised offer, not a reviewed meal.
We would compare St. Martin before paying a premium elsewhere, but there is no sound blanket percentage saving: hotels, villa occupancy, minimum stays and transfers can change the result. Our dedicated St. Martin guide explains how to compare the complete trip.
Our booking order
First choose the daytime holiday: skiing, city culture or beach. Then identify the evening you care about, with written inclusions and a real date. Price the full stay, transport and cancellation exposure together. Only then add secondary reservations. The strongest New Year’s plan leaves you looking forward to January 1 as much as December 31.
